How many units do I need?
Start with your headcount, not your gut. OSHA 1926.51(c) sets construction ratios: 1 toilet for 20 workers or fewer, then 1 toilet seat and 1 urinal per 40 workers once you pass 20, and 1 per 50 once you hit 200 or more. If you are running a hand-labor crew instead of a job site, OSHA 1928.110 calls for one facility per 20 employees, reachable within a quarter mile walk. Event organizers should size differently, based on guest count and hours rather than worker count. What size and type of unit fits my site?
A standard unit runs about 44 by 48 inches on the ground and stands roughly 92 inches tall, which matters if you are placing it under a low overhang or near equipment. It carries a 60 to 70 gallon holding tank. If your event or office site wants something nicer, a deluxe flushable unit is worth the upgrade.
